10 Affordable Ideas to Decorate Your Marquee
Plans have changed in 2020 and many of you will be looking at different ways to celebrate your union or plan an event.
Now that the government has given the go ahead for wedding receptions of up to 30 people, we thought we would explore a few of our favourite budget friendly ideas to help you decorate your wedding marquee, whether that’s on a smaller scale or in your back garden!
1. Table Centre Pieces
Table centre pieces can add up but why not create your own and decorate jam jars with a simple ribbon and flowers!
2. Name Places
Use your creativity with these, make it individual to you and your partner, dry out leaves and use a template to write your guests name.
3. Menu Cards
No need to buy expensive menu cards for your guests, create your own by using stencils and a board to hang up in the entrance for your guests to read.
4. Guest Book Alternatives
Fancy books for your guests to write in can cost more than you think. Alternative options with a twist we love are: ask guests to write their messages on a piece of oak that way you can have this as a centre piece in your home. Or find a potted tree, add some fairy lights and give guests a tag to write their message and hang on the tree – a great centre piece in your marquee and an interactive way for your guests to leave their well wishes.
5. Hand Made Wooden Place Cards
If you are feeling a little bit creative then cut some birch wood medallions (or you can buy them) as this could be a fabulous addition to your wedding decor. Use these rustic wooden blocks as woodland inspired place cards and write each guest’s name on in a metallic or black pen. Alternatively, you could use these as bases for tealights in glass holders.
6. Turn Barrels Into Tables
Want to give your outdoor wedding or event a vineyard vibe? Old wine barrels are the perfect height to be repurposed as rustic cocktail tables.
7. Use Rustic Containers for Centre Pieces
A wooden flower box filled with loosely arranged flowers makes for a laid-back centre piece at a garden wedding. Glowing tea lights complete the tablescape.
8. Create a Self-Serve Sweet Station
Make a lasting impression on your guests with a self-serve sweet station. Fill glass jars with penny sweets and lay out muslin to-go bags for guests.
9. Re-Purpose a Pallet for Your Order of the Day
Instead of an expensive sign why not find a free wooden pallet, give it a lick of paint and write on the slats the timings of your day.
10. Vintage Ladder Marquee Decor
Need something beautiful to fill an empty corner of your garden marquee? Create a pretty garden-themed setup using a vintage ladder and greenery.
