Barny Lee Marquees, Events and Weddings Experts, Response to the COVID-19 Crisis

Our Managing Director Barny Lee has a wealth of experience in the wedding and event industry, we spoke to him to see what impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the company and how we are determined to help and support our wonderful clients as much as we can.

How has COVID-19 affected weddings and other large events in 2020?

COVID-19 is affecting everyone involved in the event industry as mass gatherings have been prohibited and social distancing rules need to be adhered to. At Barny Lee Marquees we are working closely with our clients and suppliers to find a solution for those affected by these measures.

As a marquee and events company, how are you helping your customers?

It is incredibly hard for engaged couples not being able to celebrate their marriage on the dates they have chosen. We are staying in touch by phone and email to allow couples to postpone their wedding marquees and equipment hire to later in the year or to help them then find a suitable date for 2021.

We are also helping those having parties and corporate events to agree on a date in the future, so they have something to look forward to. Annual shows and events are generally deciding to roll over to the same dates next year – so the 2021 diary is certainly looking busy!

What is the best advice you can give to someone wanting to plan an event or wedding after the Coronavirus lockdown?

We are encouraging clients that have postponed their date or enquires that have not booked yet to confirm a date as soon as possible. We do have a lot of marquee and event equipment, but as our clients are rescheduling their bookings for Autumn 2020 or Spring 2021 the diary is starting to fill up.

Site visits cannot take place at present; however, any images or video footage of a site can be useful when helping to put quotations together and we use conference calling if required to come up with the right solution.
