5 Top Wedding Planning Tips

Expert Advice for Planning Your Wedding or Event from Top South West Marquee and Events Company
Planning a wedding or event can often seem a bit overwhelming. So, Managing Director Barny Lee, who has over 17 years’ experience in the sector, shares five of his top tips to help you plan your special occasion.
1. Have a Date in Mind
To avoid disappointment, contact your venue or marquee company well in advanced. Barny comments, “Usually our clients get in contact with us about a year in advanced with an idea of when they would like to book a marquee.”
2. Choose Your Marquee Location Carefully
If you are planning to hold your wedding or event in a marquee either at home or in a wedding venue, Barny says, “if possible, it’s helpful to have a secondary site for your marquee company to visit during your site visit as they may find this is a better spot in terms of logistics and weather options. During our consultations, we will take into consideration access points to the marquee as well as wind and weather scenarios.”
We provide marquee hire services at a host of beautiful venues across the South of the UK so we can recommend something suitable for you if you’re still looking. You can check out some of our recommended venues in your areas now: marquee hire services in Cardiff, marquee hire services in London, marquee hire services in Taunton, marquee hire services in Bristol, marquee hire services in Bath, marquee hire services in Somerset, marquee hire services in Exeter, marquee hire services in Devon, marquee hire services in Wiltshire, marquee hire services in Dorset.
3. Plan for the Unpredictable British Weather
No matter what time of the year your wedding or party is being held, Barny adds, “always have a Plan B for wet or cold weather, your guests will really appreciate this.” Whether this is the type of marquee you ultimately choose or simply having blankets and heaters on hand. Some venues may even let you host a marquee on their lawn allowing access to the building should bad weather put pay to your plans.
4. Be Practical
Barny advises, “Don’t forget to consider site access: can vehicles move in and out with ease and where will your guests park? Will you need to hire loos and a generator for electricity? All these considerations can be discussed during your site visit.”
5. Hosting at Home
“If you choose to host your wedding or party at home or on a site owned by a friend or neighbour, whilst this adds a really personal touch, please be aware (and the landowner) that you will need access to the site for around a week prior to the event,” says Barny.
